Food for Mind & Spirit
Food for Mind & Spirit
We have to feed ourselves, right. We feed ourselves physical food all of the time. but we need to get full on the word.
The things that we're putting in our bodies are the things that bring us the health that we need. And if we don't want to be filled with the things of the world, the things of the devil. We want to be filled with God. We need to feed on that and that comes through Bible Study.
We are having that deeper dive here. At Varick what we do is go from the word that we were getting and feasting on, on Sunday and try to tear that a part or dig deeper into that on Wednesdays with Bible studies. And then that allows us to ask questions, hear other opinions here what other people got from it.
But it helps us to have those conversations and help us have things to think about, and continue to meditate on God. Right? We often are saying that at the end of Bible Study.
Those are things that we need to meditate on throughout the rest of the week, keep it with us because it helps us, right? Whether we're going through some challenging times at work or we're stressed out at home or whatever it is, those are the things that really help us as we meditate on those things and remembering some of the scriptures and the lessons and things like that, that we're going through, really to make it through through the week.
We just see that we are a family and we are helping one another, not to just accomplish these goals in the physical, but in the spiritual.
Members of Varick share their feelings about Bible Study.
Bible Study I feel is great.
I attend Bible Study and I feel that it is just a great loan experience, borrowing in your relationship with God, studying his word is so important and we never present as knowing at all. But it's open to the learning of God's word. Reading God's word and studying God's word, it's so important.
We have the Bible Study and sometimes we may not be able to interpret it the way somebody else could, and we get a chance to even question certain things about the Bible.
And listening and learning in Bible study, there is always something in the passage from a scripture that lets you know, where you stand and how you can grow. If you just take the time to listen, examine your soul as to where am I? Is this particular scripture talking to me or how I'm making it on?
